Brad & Jennie Neathery: Owners of Oak and Eden & The Little Bird & Modern Huntsman
Join Jamey for an awe-inspiring interview with entrepreneurial husband and wife duo, Jennie and Brad Neathery.
For the last 11 years, these college sweethearts have done it all. From settling into a corporate gig, to launching a creative agency, to co-founding two fast-growing whiskey brands, to hand-making signs in their garage, to becoming Instagram famous (like we said, they’ve done it all!) Brad and Jennie keep saying “yes!” to new adventures without the fear of being told no, all while clinging tightly to their core values.
Brad is a passion brand builder, creative strategist, and accidental entrepreneur who turned a passion for storytelling into a growth hacking methodology. Now, he’s leveraged that experience to build numerous successful brands. These include Right Brain Factory, a creative agency, Modern Huntsman, a media collective of artists, hunters, conservationists, anglers and naturalists focused on the sustainable use of our wild resources, Oak & Eden Whiskey, the nation’s fastest growing ultra premium whiskey brand, and JOJO Cookie Dough Whiskey.
In this episode, Brad unpacks his incredible journey to entrepreneurship. It all started when he began painting sidewalk numbers in his neighborhood with a friend to make some extra cash. Before he knew it, he was designing, printing, and selling t-shirts, acting as a full-blown design and clothing agency by the time he was 17. This first taste of entrepreneurship ignited a fire within him. Though he spent 4.5 years in Corporate America after being sold “The American Dream” in school, Brad always held the desire to build something with meaning. His faith guided him every step of the way, and now he’s had the opportunity to build and grow multiple “passion brands.”
Oak & Eden Whiskey, a patented, in-bottle finished whiskey, is a brand he co-launched with the desire to sanctify the spirits industry. As the nation’s fastest growing ultra premium whiskey brand and second fastest growing whiskey brand overall, it’s one of his most successful ventures to date.
Jennie moved from Missouri to Texas on a volleyball scholarship to Abilene Christian University (where she and Brad met.) Her determination and discipline as an athlete would later allow her to excel in launching multiple businesses. Brad and Jennie married after school, and Jennie was excited to take on the role as a stay at home mom as they grew their family. She quickly shifted from stay at home mom to creative entrepreneur when she launched “The Little Bird,” a handmade wooden sign studio that rapidly gained a band of loyal followers.
This business started as a creative outlet, but as Jennie invited people behind the curtain of her life, her popularity online blossomed, and so did her business. The Neatherys felt a faith-filled calling to live on land, and in 2020, they began building a custom Scandinavian farmhouse in Argyle, TX. Now, they live on this small homestead with their 9 year old son, 6 year old daughter, donkeys, chickens, and a dog. Jennie’s content online shifted to focus on designing and filling this special home, and once again, her following grew rapidly. @the.little.bird now has 200k followers, and the home they built is a natural light home studio available for rent. They call it Stock and Seed.
Through it all, Jennie and Brad have remained grounded and faithful. Their impact is great and joyful spirits are contagious. Tune in to hear all the details. We promise, it’s an episode you won’t want to miss.
