Episode 12: Marc Istook
From a young age, Marc Istook was making movies and connecting with people. As a Fort Worth native and sixth-generation TCU grad, Marc has this place in his DNA, but it didn’t take him long to know he needed to fly the coop for a bit. After being flown out to LA for an audition, Marc Istook knew deep in his gut that LA was where he needed to be. So he took his two pennies to LA, got a retail job, and started looking for broadcasting work. Ready to make the sacrifices and put in the time to make his dream come true, Marc gave it his all.
Unrelenting in his pursuit of a career in TV and radio, Marc Istook has had twenty years of local and national experience. Plus, he’s an Emmy nominated broadcaster. In this episode, he also shares lots of anecdotes and fascinating interactions like interviewing Billy Joel as a teenager and later even asking out Mandy Moore while living in LA. Marc Istook invested in his career even when it didn’t always make sense but he was determined. He worked retail and picked up whatever gigs he could, producing, filming, and editing on the side, because he knew that the cream doesn’t always rise to the top. Sticking things out when they get tough truly does make a difference.
Today, he’s back home in DFW hosting with the Daybreak team on WFAA and absolutely loving it. Tune in and be inspired by his drive and his desire to spread positivity.
