Abel Casillas : Vocalist and Accordionist for the Squeezebox Bandits
Abel Casillas is the vocalist and accordionist for the Squeezebox Bandits, a Honky Tonk Band with a Tex Mex Twist.
Growing up Abel’s parents instilled in him a love for old Country and Tejano music. From there he fell in love with the sound of the accordion. Abel worked at a grocery store, bagging groceries and mopping floors, so that he could buy his first accordion. The lead janitor’s brother gave him accordion lessons, building his musical foundation and learning how to mimic the fiddle. After playing in multiple bands, Abel decided to start his own, the Squeezebox Bandits, and he began writing songs with his bandmates.
One song at a time, the Squeezebox Bandits found their sound and continued to improve. Headlining shows at Gruene Hall, Billy Bob’s Texas, and the State Fair, they have carved out a unique sound for themselves. The Squeezebox Bandits opened for Leon Bridges and Chris Stapleton at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Festival.
